In the heart of our community, a spiritual tradition has taken root, bringing together devotees every Thursday evening. Initiated in November 2023, the Regular Thursday Baba Dhoop Aarthi has quickly become a cherished weekly event, drawing 50-100 participants who come to honor and seek blessings from Shri Shirdi Sai Baba.
This devotional event was born out of the growing devotion and enthusiasm of a small group of women who began chanting and performing Aarthi in July 2023. Their humble beginnings, marked by weekly gatherings, saw exponential growth in just a few months. By August 2023, the group had attracted more devotees, laying the foundation for what would become a significant community event.
The idea to install a Baba photo for the weekly prayers emerged in September 2023, followed by the thoughtful decision in October 2023 to place a Baba idol in the neighborhood. This idol, along with sacred padukas (footwear), was ceremoniously installed in November 2023, coinciding with the commencement of the Regular Thursday Baba Dhoop Aarthi.
Every Thursday, devotees gather to perform Dhoop Aarthi, a ritual that involves lighting incense and offering prayers, creating an atmosphere of deep spirituality and devotion. The rhythmic chanting of Baba’s name, the flickering light of the Aarthi, and the shared sense of faith unite the participants, fostering a strong sense of community and spiritual upliftment.
The event not only serves as a platform for individual and collective worship but also strengthens the bonds among devotees. It offers a serene space for reflection, prayer, and the exchange of spiritual experiences. For many, it has become a beacon of hope and solace, providing a regular opportunity to reconnect with their faith amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The establishment of the Shirdi Saibaba Ashram Trust in May 2024 further solidified the organizational structure supporting this event, ensuring its sustainability and growth. The trust oversees the arrangements, facilitates the participation of devotees, and manages the activities related to the temple, thus enhancing the overall experience for the community.
The Regular Thursday Baba Dhoop Aarthi has become more than just a weekly ritual; it is a celebration of faith, a reaffirmation of spiritual values, and a testament to the power of collective devotion.
